Even though the past years I have been traveling mainly in Italy, there are also other amazing places I have visited. So today I am taking you back to last summer and one of the most amazing places I have ever visited in Finland. One of my dear friend got married last summer, and it was truly a destination wedding. The wedding took place almost exactly one year a go in small lighthouse island Tankar. Tankar is situated close to Kokkola, and example from Helsinki you can reach the place in 4 hours with a train or in 1 hour with a plane.
The island of Tankar is situated approximately 20km from the city of Kokkola and is now a days delightful destination for tourists. The island is offering unforgettable experiences of nature and samples of the old archipelago lifestyle. You will just fall in love with this place.
The charming archipelago village is comprised of the old fishermen’s cabins and the café and guest cabins located among them, with the chapel dominating from its own rock. The sealing museum presents the old hunting culture of the coast and the Lighthouse Community shows the life of the lighthouse keepers’ families. (The history of Tankar)
My friends family is hosting the cafe in the island now a days, so if you ever end up going to Tankar, remeber to say Hi from me! The island feels like another country, and I cannot think better place than Tankar if you need some peace and relaxation without the too many people around you. Without more words, here is a way too many picture from last summer when I visited the island for my friends beautiful wedding. Sadly even million pictures can never describe the magic of this island, so make a summer trip and see it yourself!
Next weeks TBT -post will take you to Tallinn!
